Welcome to Birchbend Cottage, a Swiss chalet built by a Swiss family who relocated to Deer Isle in the early 1900s. It was later owned by the summer French Camp leader, who hosted many events at the home. The chalet gives the feel of a much older lodge, with its aged post & beam construction and wooden walls and floors. A large stone fireplace reaches to lofty heights, with stairs leading to the loft and balcony area. The living and dining area are amply spacious, and can easily accommodate larger families or groups. A large kitchen and adjoining pantry further aid in preparations for larger families. There are three bedrooms on the main floor (full, 2 twins, 2 twins), and full bed tucked in to the upstairs balcony area. There is also a rustic sunroom w/ twin bed. If needed, it could be arranged to add another bedroom w/ bunk bed. A screen porch with table and seating overlooks a granite patio area, which despite settling and being a bit uneven, is a great place to relax outside, and looking out to the nearby small pond close by. On the front of the home, a covered patio provides a shady venue to enjoy this peaceful setting. The home is nestled within 5 1/2 private acres of woods and meadows. There is a right of way to the ocean, and only a short drive or 15 minute walk to Sylvester Cove beach. Despite its larger size, the homes warmth and old feel will be pleasurable to both small and larger groups alike. This is a nice quiet location yet close to Deer Isle Village.

All rentals are subject to a 7% Maine Lodging Tax, plus an additional, refundable security deposit, and a cleaning fee. Pets are not allowed without prior permission from the owner of the cottage. If granted permission, an additional $100 pet fee is collected and kept at our discretion if any evidence of pet hair or damage is found on your departure.
