Aquarian Adjourn is one of but a few homes located right on Stonington Harbor. Formerly home to Stoningtons local lobstermen, the home possesses an expansive dock once used to manage a multitude of traps, nets, buoys and gear. This massive dock borders almost all the shore frontage of the property, providing a close up vantage point to enjoy Stonington’s busy harbor scene. This picturesque harbor is continually active with Maine’s second largest lobstering fleet, a variety of other sea faring crafts, and curious seals and gulls hoping for discarded remnants of bait thrown over board.
Two more decks grace the property with unsurpassed views. A lower level deck hovers just over the waters edge, nestled in a quiet corner of the property where a small French drain showers this private cove with a small waterfall. An upper level deck adorns the sea ward side of the cottage, capturing impressive views encompassing the entire harbor, including downtown and out to Isle au Haut (part of Acadia National Park).
These views are carried in to the home by large glass doors and picture bay windows, allowing for panoramic views from inside. Exposed beams, wood floors, an open floor plan and tasteful décor produce a soft contemporary style, exuding warmth and comfort. A small woodstove relieves the morning chill while you sit and gaze east to early morning sunrises. Catch up with the local newspaper over a cup of freshly brewed coffee, sitting at the dining table situated where a profusion of glass keeps you close to the harbor activities. Ample sitting areas provide a variety of places to rest or visit with family. An adjoining TV room, with retractable doors, provide for quiet entertainment or additional sleeping with its pull out sofa. Double master bedrooms upstairs complete the sleeping arrangement, where, again, ample bay and picture windows capture the stunning views.
A gracefully sloping landscaped yard complements this beautiful home, giving a more secluded feel to this in town home. Walk to the attractions of down town Stonington, but return to the peace and serenity of Aquarian Adjourn. All rentals are subject to a 7% Maine Lodging Tax, plus an additional, refundable security deposit, and a cleaning fee. Pets are not allowed without prior permission from the owner of the cottage. If granted permission, an additional $100 pet fee is collected and kept at our discretion if any evidence of pet hair or damage is found on your departure.
