Goose Falls Cottage rest at this majestic spot, between pond and ocean, perfectly situated to experience this unique phenomenon. Further, this property offers docks, ramp, mooring and deepwater access opening to Castine Harbor and Penobscot Bay. At low tide, dockside waters are never lower than 10 ft, and the heavy weight mooring is in a well protected harbor. This setting is a scenic delight and a boaters paradise. Further, it is also a prime fishing, bird watching and wildlife viewing spot. Fish off the docks or rocky shores for flounder, mackerel, bluefish and stripers. A full kitchen, spacious sleeping and dining area, and living room w/ pull out sofa, are immaculate and comfortable. You might find the history of this spot likewise of interest. This area was one of the earlier settlements of the French and British, utilizing this cove to build coasting vessels in the 1700s, and later grist and saw mills. The reversing falls were harnessed for creating electrical power for these endeavors. Nowadays, people enjoy the scenic beauty, and the class II rapids it creates. An added plus, this property is owned by a former area vessel captain, now semi-retired but running his lobster boat from the docks. You just might have access to fresh lobster right off his boat. He is a friendly sort, and should he happen by, you will enjoy his jolly spirit and wealth of information. But trust your privacy is fully respected. This is a unique property, yet by its very nature is not suitable for toddlers, young children or the infirm. We recommend only children above the age of 12, and even they should be well supervised.
